The Importance of Community (and an Invite to Join Ours)
August 7, 2020 · Aaron Burr
Whether we care to admit it, we are all people people. Sure, some more than others, but all of us require some form of community or tribe to be a part of.
We can go about our lives pushing to ✊have an impact, to change things, and align our actions with our values, but there will still be something missing.
Contribution.
Being a part of something bigger than us.
Impact aside, being a piece to a movement or a cause, or even simply a community, is so important. Especially to our health. To our fulfillment. Maybe to our happiness...however that crazy word is defined.🤷🏽♀️
We can go zero waste, stop driving cars or flying on planes: we can do everything we think is the most in line with a truly low footprint lifestyle. But if we don’t find our community, we will be lacking a deeper meaning.
We will be lacking the feeling of collective impact: the feeling that together, we are making such a big difference.
💬This is at the end of the day, the mindset that truly creates change: that together we can make a difference. It is the mindset that goes about life saying “I need to act in a way as if eight billion people also did” and not “I’m only one person, so who cares.”
By being a part of a community of like minded people on the same mission, we can share resources, knowledge, and tear down barriers that would only hinder the progress of change.
By being involved with a community, we can contribute to the ⛄️snowball effect which picks up more and more people along the way...simply because they see a group of people they like and want to join!
Maybe some of us see a snowball that we want to join, or maybe we are already a part of one but not so sure how to contribute more.
We’ve written several articles about community, from articles related to creative ways to contribute, the power our actions have to change our community, and how zero waste isn’t just about our footprint.
And speaking of zero waste being a movement and community instead of just being about smaller footprint, we invite you to join ours!💚
💻Through our blog, social media, and emails we at LastObject aim to build a community of sorts around zero waste and eco friendly living.
We hope to bring together many people from all backgrounds whether they started reading from purchasing our products like LastSwab or LastTissue, or maybe they appreciate our products but don’t necessarily need them in their lives.
Maybe there are those who aren’t interested in our products at all but simply feel welcome in the community we are growing. That’s amazing!🤗
Send us your tips, your challenges, and your questions! We want to share them with our community. This way your struggles may help others struggle less, and your tips will help others accomplish more.
What are some tips we should share? What should we add to our blog, emails, and social media? What are we doing right and what could we improve on? What do you want to hear more or less of?
Comment on this post, reply to our emails, message us on the socials, let’s get in touch! We think there is so much to share out there, and with such an important issue like the health of the planet we should be doing all we can to work together.
Talk to ya soon. ✌️
